CWC Jan 2013 | Semi Final 1 : Cosmos vs Shadows


The D-Day came n gone...Semis is over n Cosmos has narrowed down on the
finale which will be played at Eden Gardens....but before lets see wat
transpired on this big day at wankade...the match was between Cosmos n
Shadows...Well till nw in this CWC version these 2 teams didnt meet
other until the semis...but in the last CWC they are in the same grp n
Cosmos lost both the matches against Shadows...so even before the match
started bitter defeats were lingering in the camp of Cosmos....
Toss was won by Shadow's capt. Anurag who decided to bat first ....

The start for Shadows were a dream one.....both clarke n warner gave a
sound start to the Shadows wicket n built up a 100+ partnership for the
first wkt n really looked threatened out thr on a pitch which favours a
batsmen bit more thn the bowlers...but thn came vettori n within a few
overs back to back wkts sendin the openers back to the pavilion ....n
puttin shadows onto the backfoot...n before even Shadows get their
footing correct vettori came back with another blow sendin guptill
packed n parcel to the dugout...nw it was upto dravid n bell to play a
consolidated innings n they just did tht but at the expense of sm
serious tight bowling frm Cosmos...the runrate never touched 6 n was
always under control with few boundaries going here n there...with a
couple of wkts more down southee n steyn were able to deliver pristine
bowling in the 49th n 50th over to keep Shadows to 251 runs...a score
very much achievable but also can be defended by Shadows bowlers...

It was Cosmos turn to give a subtle start n both afridi n watson did tht
exactly...not much big hits but kept the scoreboard ticking at all
times with RRR under check ....afiridi well just 3 short of his maiden
half century in this CWC...but he did his job as he returns to the
dugout..out came viresh ..but in the very next over watson departed due
to a silly runout which was immediately followed by departure of hussey n
Cosmos thrown into a dark corner with victory horizon a long long
away...out came Cosmos capt aka DADA ...n then began the rebuilding of a
perfect partnership between the capt n viresh ....with dada takin the
necessary chances n viresh just gliding the ball throughout the
ground...with victory nearing dada had to depart n then viresh ends it
with a fine boundary on harris's over to win the semi-final .....Dada is
yet again judged Man of the Match but it was an overall team effort in
the end....
With the finals comin up on 30th ....time to again get
all the loose ends tied up n prepare for one of the greatest matches of
CW...thts all folks...
