*****CA ANNOUNCE 14 MEMBER SQUAD FOR THIRD AND FINAL TEST AT PERTH VS PROTEAS****
Johnson, Hastings and Hazlewood called up
Mitchell Johnson has returned to Australia's Test squad for the first time in a year and has been joined by the uncapped Josh Hazlewood and John Hastings as Australia consider their bowling options for the third Test in Perth. Mitchell Starc is also part of a 14-man group that does not feature the injured James Pattinson, nor the batsman Rob Quiney, who has been dropped after scoring a pair in Adelaide.
"Shane Watson is ready to play and replaces Rob Quiney, while James Pattinson was not considered for selection due to injury," the national selector John Inverarity said. "The pace bowling stocks in the squad have been boosted with the addition of the experienced Mitchell Johnson and emerging paceman Josh Hazlewood.
"John Hastings, who has played 11 ODIs and three T20s in Australian colours, deserves his inclusion in the squad following his excellent recent form. In Bupa Sheffield Shield cricket he has taken 22 wickets at 18.3 and consistently scored valuable lower order runs.
"Josh Hazlewood is a very exciting 21 year old pace bowler. He debuted for NSW when he was 17 and played an ODI game for Australia at 19. He has been improving steadily this season after an injury interrupted 2011-12 season.
"There is a possibility that the final XI could include four pace bowlers. The extra bowlers have been included as back-up and in recognition of the demanding workloads shouldered by Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus in the first two Vodafone Tests against South Africa."
Squad David Warner, Ed Cowan, Shane Watson, Ricky Ponting, Michael Clarke (capt), Michael Hussey, Matthew Wade, Mitchell Johnson, John Hastings, Peter Siddle, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.

THATS WHY I NAMED THE THREAD AS "Thread for Craziest Series of the YEAR (AUS VS SA)"
SURELY YOU WON'T MIND SUCH DRAWS. IT WAS A CLASSIC TEST MATCH.
WHEN SUCH DRAWS HAPPEN, YOU WON'T TALK ABOUT WINNING AND LOOSING, BUT AUSTRALIA SHOULD HAVE WON THIS.

Re: Thread for Craziest Series of the YEAR (AUS VS SA) (2)
Faf du Plessis is the first South Africa batsman, and the seventh overall, to score a fourth-innings century on Test debut. He is the fourth batsman to score a debut Test century for South Africa. However, du Plessis faced the most deliveries for a debutant in the fourth innings. His strike rate of 29.25 is the second lowest for a South Africa batsman against Australia since South Africa's readmission in 1992.
Du Plessis was also the first batsman to score a century and a fifty on Test debut for South Africa. Fifteen batsmen have achieved the feat.
Du Plessis and Jacques Kallis were involved in a half-century stand in both innings. They are the first South African pair and the third overall to be involved in two stands in the nineties in a Test.
Nathan Lyon bowled fifty overs in the fourth innings, the tenth time an Australian bowled so much in an innings since 1990. Shane Warne, who had bowled 50 or more overs five times, holds the record for most overs (since 1990) in an innings by an Australian - 70.

Re: Thread for Craziest Series of the YEAR (AUS VS SA) (2)
South Africa played 148 overs in the fourth innings to avoid defeat. The number of balls they faced (888) is their second highest in the fourth innings while saving a Test and the highest since readmission. It is also the ninth highest in an effort to save a Test (fourth innings) and the third highest in Adelaide.
South Africa began the final day four wickets down. The 762 balls faced by the last six wickets (five to ten) is the most for South Africa in the fourth innings. It is also the most balls faced by the last six of any team in the fourth innings.
For the first time since 1921, two consecutive Tests between Australia and South Africa were drawn. Between 2000 and this series, the only draw between the teams was in Perth (2005), which is the venue for the third Test. The last time two successive matches were drawn in a series in Australia was when New Zealand toured in 2001
This is the tenth time a team has drawn a Test in Australia after losing eight or more wickets in the fourth innings. Four of the ten matches have been in Adelaide. The last team to achieve such a draw in Adelaide was India in 1981.

Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus will not bowl another ball before the first morning of the third Test against South Africa, beginning on November 30 in Perth, as Australia try to freshen up the exhausted fast bowlers.
Australia coach Mickey Arthur indicated that a wholesale swap of bowlers for Perth was a distinct possibility, granting the captain Michael Clarke a far fresher line-up of bowlers meaning both siddle and Hilfenhaus are in considerable doubt to be recovered in time for Perth, leaving open the possibility of a dramatically recast bowling attack that may feature Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, John Hastings and Josh Hazlewood.

Francois du Plessis missed the record for Most Balls faced on test debut.
du Plessis faced 535 balls to score 188 in the entire match, while Brendon Kuruppu of Sri Lanka faced 548 balls to score 201 not out in an Innings(Match).

this is utter rubbish
A bowler who cannot bowl atleast 50 overs in MATCH isnt considered as bowl as per me ..
because u see FAst bowlers usually bowl 5 over SPells
and get atleast a BREAK of 10 to 15 overs
thats more than ENOUGH
and did u ever know
In a Test Match vs India at Sydney in 1991/92 Season
Craig McDermott Bowled more than 50 overs in an INNINGS.
Ravi Shastri scored DOUBLE
His spell was 51-12-147-4
Even Merv Hughes bowled 41 overs
Interestingly Shane Warne bowled just 45 overs
and Indian Pacer Manoj Prabhakar bowled 39 in an Innings
So bowling 30 Overs in an Innings with 10 to 15 over break isnt considered as SO TIRED
especially Hilfy hasnt bowled much as Siddle
Siddle bowled a good 10 over spell at last but he could have recovered and freshened up within 1 day
Its Rubbish that they shouldnt bowl atleast another DELIVERY
Even in coachin academies here
Fast bowlers bowl atleast 90 balls in 3 Hours..(each bowler bowls 90 balls)
So they bowl daily
Being Intl bowlers they shouldnt be EXAUSTED i guess
and theres nothing special about them

EITHER YOU ARE REALLY BLIND OR ACTING LIKE BLIND!!!!!
SIDDLE BOWLED 63.5 OVERS IN THE ADELAIDE TEST.
HILFENHAUS BOWLED 53.3 OVERS IN THE ADELAIDE TEST.
GONE ARE THE DAYS WHEN WE USED TO HAVE LONG BREAKS BETWEEN EVERY TWO TESTS
GONE ARE THE DAYS WHEN WE USED TO HAVE ODI MATCHES SCHEDULED IN BETWEEN 2 TEST MATCHES BETWEEN SAME OPPOSITION.
YOU GAVE ME THE EXAMPLE OF 1991/92 SERIES BETWEEN INDIA AND AUSTRALIA, KINDLY CHECK THE ENTIRE FIXTURE OF THAT SERIES PLEASE. :fail:
