Thread For CB Series
Preview:
It has not been long that India won the World Cup after 28 Yrs. Just 10 months, the history was made.
But after that, it was horror show. They were white washed in England (4-0). If that was not enough Australia replicated the same in Australia as if they sent a straight message to England before the ultimate Ashes in 2013.
The world's strongest batting line up was made to look ordinary in 16 test innings combined. They managed to score 300 or more only twice.
On the other hand Sri Lanka has its own share of problems. They lost in the world cup final, Dilshan was appointed the captain in haste. They lost to England in Test & ODI series in England, Australia then beating them in Test & ODI series that too in their own backyard. This was followed by the appointment of Geoff Marsh as their coach. That too didn't change their fortune. They lost Test, ODI series and T20 to Pakistan in UAE followed by losing to South Africa in Test & ODI series in South Africa. Their only glory was when they beat South Africa in South Africa in a test match for the 1st time.
Adding salt to the injury, Sri Lanka board facing corruption charges, former players accusing each other of match fixing charges, players getting injured consistentlly, the current Sri Lankan players are not even payed for the last 10 months. But still they are playing may be because of their love for the game.
Recently after the loss to SA, their cricket underwent complete overhaul with Dilshan resigning from the leadership role,Graham Ford replacing Marsh as their head coach, Mahela Jayawardene appointed as the captain for the time being.
On the Contrary, Australia had mixed performance after world cup.
After a successful tour of Bangladesh & Sri Lanka, they were humiliated by SA in Capetown when Australia were bowled out for 47/10. However, they managed to level the Test series & also won the ODI series against them. Mickey Arthur was then appointed the head of the team. But they were soon traumatized when they were beaten the Kiwis at home after 25 yrs in a thriller.
But they completed a clean sweep vs India against all odds with inexperienced & out of form bowlers before the series. The bowlers who were on form were injured before the series started.
Now, all these 3 teams will face each other in coloured clothes as Triangular Tournament is back in Australia after 4 yrs. Moreover, India & Sri Lankans will face for the 1st time since World Cup finale.
India will play for redemption & will look to prove that World Cup victory was not a fluke, Sri Lanka will play for pride, while Australia will look to dominate the ranking table by extending their No.1 status for few more months.
