The physio makes his way out.
Michael Clarke is hurt and is hit
just above the knee roll, the un-
padded region. Could have got
more hit.

Chanaka Welegedara, and
suprisingly, not Nuwan
Kulasekara to share the second
new ball. Maybe because Kula
has already bowled 18 overs,
the heightest among the
bowlers today.

Appeal for run-out! They have
gone upstairs to check if Hussey
is in.

Re: SHAMMY SAM - Sports Centre
81.5 C Welegedara to Hussey
1 Safe. Hussey drills a full ball to
mid off and calls early. Makes it
to the other end but while
trying to sway away from the
shy of Herath, goes a bit around
the wicket and ends up just
about dragging his bat in. Third
umpire confirms he is in.

4 FOUR! Outrageous. A full
length delivery at 123.7 kph,
Clarke takes his bottom-hand
away but still manages to
present a straight bat down
through mid off. What bottom-
hands from such a timid figure?

4 FOUR! Excellent from the
skipper. Marginally full delivery,
125.5 kph, Clarke drives it on up
and well past mid on with the
straightest of bats.

Right then, the short conference
is over and the Indian players
are spreading on the field.
Ravindra Jadeja to start off with
the proceedings.

Re: SHAMMY SAM - Sports Centre
AUS VS SL
Ed Cowan fell cheaply for his 4th low score in his last five innings.
David Warner was watchful early but then started picking the pace after adjusting well. The domestic veteran, Phil
Jacques, after making some noticeable changes to his batting stance on his third entry to the Test side, played a wonderful knock only to fall 14
short of a deserving century. That is Stumps on Day 1. It's been a superb day of Test cricket. Firstly, credit to Michael
Clarke for trusting his batsmen by winning the toss to bat first under overcast conditions. It also helps that apart from
Nuwan Kulasekara, Sri Lanka don't really have anyone to make use of the seaming conditions.

6 SIX! Biggie! Slow loopy
delivery on middle, very full in
length, Swann goes down on
one knee and hammers it over
wide long on for a maximum.
50 stand up!

4 FOUR! Fine shot by Root.
Caution mixed with aggression.
Flighted full delivery on middle,
Root got down and swatted it
to the deep mid-wicket
boundary. 300 up for England!

4 FOUR! Brutal! A very full
delivery outside off, Swann
latches onto it and clobbers it
back past the bowler for a
boundary. That was hit with
tremendous power.
