‎*******BOUCHER REQUIRES IMMEDIATE SURGERY******
Mark Boucher required immediate surgery on his left eye after being struck by a bail on the opening day of South Africa's first tour match against Somerset at Taunton. Boucher suffered the injury when Gemaal Hussain was bowled by Imran Tahir at the end of 46th over and the bail ricocheted into his face.

He was taken to the hospital minutes after leaving the field and following assessment by an ophthalmologist was booked in for surgery at 6pm on Monday evening, confirmed the team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee who added the full extent of the damage will only be known later.

AB de Villiers took over the wicketkeeping against Somerset but it seems high likely that South Africa will have to call up another gloveman with Thami Tsolekile.

MARK BOUCHER OFFICIALLY OUT OF ENGLAND AFTER EYE SURGERY.
REPLACEMENT YET TO BE NAMED, BUT IT IS LIKELY THAT THAMI TSOLELEKI WILL BE DRAFTED IN.
BOUCHER WAS HIT ON THE LEFT EYE BY THE FLYING BAILS WHEN A GOOGLY OF IMRAN TAHIR THE STUMPS YESTERDAY IN THE 46TH OVER OF THE 1ST WARM UP MATCH.

HE HAD SURGERY ON HIS LEFT EYE BALL WHICH WAS REPAIRED WITHIN HOURS AFTER BEING HIT. IT WAS SEVERE.

BOUCHER WILL LEAVE FOR HOME AS SOON AS HE GETS MEDICAL CLEARANCE FOR TRAVEL.

The setback looms as a potential career-ender as Boucher had said the tour of England would be his last. If that proves to be true, Boucher will end on 999 international dismissals, including 555 from 147 Tests, which is a record.

Marchant de Lange has become the second South Africa player to withdraw from the Test series against England through injury in the opening week of the tour. De Lange sustained a lower back injury during the Twenty20 tri-series in Zimbabwe last month and has not recovered. He will be replaced by Albie Morkel.
