Thread for Australia Tour of South Africa
Discuss here about SA vs Aus Series,2011 in detail(only international matches(T20,ODI,TEST))
Preview:
One of the most valuable series of Modern Day Cricket.SA yet to beat Aus in a test series in SA since 1970 when Ali Bacher led SA side white washed Bill Lawry led Aus side 4-0.After that SA were banned from INT cricket for next 21-22 years because of Apartheid.Similarly Aus yet to beat SA in a ODI series in SA since 2002 when Ponting led Aus side thrashed Pollock led SA 5-1.
Another Interesting fact is that SA have beaten Aus in last 3 ODI series(in Aus and SA).This two teams have provided some excellent encounters in past 12 years.Infact these 2 teams have provided the most number of ties in last 12 years.
Who can forget that historic tie in World Cup,1999 Semi-Final, tie in 2002 series, tie in 2000 Series.
Infact who can forget extra-ordinary run-chase(434) at Johanesburg in 2006.
Who can forget tha extra-ordinary run chase(287) at Sydney led by Ponting's 100 in both innings on his 100th test(Also captain), when Graeme Smith declared on 5th day 1st season to force out a result in favour of SA. He would have never imagained that Aus would chase 287 in remaining 2 session of 5th day.
Both teams have new captains since their last meeting, Australia in all
three formats, South Africa in ODIs and T20s. Both sides have new
coaches, South Africa a former champion player, Gary Kirsten, and
Australia a stand-in mentor, Troy Cooley.
Current ICC Rankings:
T20:
South Africa(Rank-4, Matches-8, Overall Points-900, Rating Points-113)
Australia (Rank-5, Matches-11, Overall Points-1223, Rating Points-111)
ODI:
South Africa (Rank-4, Matches-21, Overall Points-2537, Rating Points-115)
Australia (Rank-1, Matches-33, Overall Points-4291, Rating Points-130)
Test:
South Africa (Rank-2, Matches-21, Overall Points-2469, Rating Points-118)
Australia (Rank-4, Matches-31, Overall Points-3224, Rating Points-104 )
Although SA havent played any INT cricket after World Cup,2011 they still have the upper hand in this series as Aus is no more Invincibles
On behalf of Cricism All The Best to both teams.

Brett Lee out of South Africa vs Australia series
Brett Lee,
the Australia fast bowler, has been ruled out of the South Africa tour
due to appendicitis. He will undergo surgery in Cape Town on Monday
night and is expected to be out of cricket for six to eight weeks.
Australia are yet to name a replacement for Lee in the one-day and
Twenty20 squads.
"Brett complained of some abdominal pain after arriving in Cape Town on
Sunday," Alex Kountoris, Australia team physiotherapist said. "After
consulting specialists and having the relevant investigations he has
been diagnosed with appendicitis. He will obviously be ruled out of the
Twenty20 and ODI series in South Africa."
A replacement player for Lee will be named "in due course"
