Tremlett not having bowled in recent months (officially) as he has been warming the bench for the England side during the ashes. Decent first over....8 from it. was cut for 4 from the only delivery of the over that strayed from his tight line

Two chances went a miss during the last over of Lyons spell over number 11. first Katich ran a risky single, and if lee had hit the stumps then Katich would be kicking himself all the way back to the dugout. And the 2nd was from the last ball of the over Whiteman gets a edge through to the keeper who didn't take it with 'soft' hands. Not just Akmal has his bad days behind the stumps Tongue out

Boundaries have slowed, 5-6 overs since the last boundary, Lyon and (ex scorcher) Marcus North doing well in tandem here only giving away singles and the odd double

And just like that, the change in bowling comes with a opening boundary. Henriques the new man

Special moment for the Scorchers. Katich gets his well deserved 50(40) hard work from him and Whiteman to bring the team back from 0-2.....now its 86-2 end of the 13th over

Katich brings up the Scorchers 100 with a slog sweep over mid wicket. 103/2 15.2overs

That over Okeefe was into the attack after seeing how well North and Lyon did together....over went for 13 in the end.

Lee cant keep a lid on the runs as Whiteman middles it over towards deep point where Okeefe cant hold the ball as he is right on the boundaries edge, 6 either way.

Lee helps his figures though the following ball. YORKER! what a 'scorcher' from lee who clean Whiteman who had just scored his 50...54(49)

12 runs from that over, but a big wicket as Whiteman was set and looking to accelerate.

Smith this time makes no mistake behind the stumps as Katich 71(56) gets a bottom edge from a big HEAVE HO! to fly to the keeper from the Josh Hazzlewood delivery.

Katich doing a splendid job once again for the Scorchers.

Adam Voges at the crease Adam Turner the young fella is with him

141/4 with ONE over to go....LEE to bowl

You could see this coming, Ashton Turner was left with the daunting task of facing his first ball from a 'on fire' Lee. Binga doesn't fail, and delivers another blow to the Scorchers. Deceptive slower ball, and turner cant time it and Steve Smith completes the straight forward catch.

Batsmen crossed so Voges is on strike

Voges smashes the ball to the fence for 4....and follows up the next ball with absolute finesse - talk about timing! no power in this 6, just perfect timing and that's all it takes. Shockingly Voges takes a single to leave the new batsmen Hilton Cartwright (in for Coulter-nile) to face his first ball of BBL13/14 and of this match.....Misses but Voges is already down the track and they get a single of the final ball.

Simon Katich played a MOM innings to help the Scorchers to a decent total on a slow track 153/5

And yes its a slow track, and no wickets came from spin as Lee ended with 4/28! (4-1-28-4-7.00)

On a side note, I am disappointed that Tremlett didn't get more overs hes in there as number 11! and one of the imports! But the team does have atleast 8 bowlers both full and partime.

Katich may just give himself a bowl, and the games all set up for Brad Hogg with his chinaman

Katich sticking with the strengths of the wicket has opened with (whats below partime?) casual? spinner Ashton Turner has bowled once in 8 matches for 1 over which went for 9 runs....

this went for 11....poor start compared with the 6ers!

Steve Okeefe!?!?! is opening along side Nic Maddinson

Katich
reverts to pace (young speedster Jason Behrendorff) for the second over and comes of trumps as Okeefe was just out there to have a bash, and he tries to hit this one too hard and looses the bail of leg stump. Henriques walks out

16/1 from 2 overs

Arafat to take over from Turner

Yasir Arafat strikes! Maddinson 8(7) looks to cut a ball which was there to HIT but gets a edge to Voges at slip

Steve Smith enters the cauldron at syndey 20/2 turning into a good match! 6ers aren't patient enough right now, each wicket coming on the back of a boundary - over hitting the ball

AND ANOTHER WICKET! Behrendorff is Mitchell Johnson reincarnated in this delivery! taking the outside edge of Henriques (duck) and Whiteman does the honours

Would you believe it! this guy is bowling himself into the Aussie spotlight here. Marcus North (golden duck) had only just arrived at the crease and he now has to trudge off again. Similar delivery that shapes away and catches the outside edge and Whiteman de ja vu!

Amazing over - Even had the new bastmen Jason Silk in early disarray, but the short ball didn't come off and went for 4. nearly a double wicket maiden....nearly!

Scorchers at this point played it smartly....which may be the 6ers downfall....just tonking for the boundaries - working for Steve Smith at the moment though but not rotating the strike! Kato and Whiteman did it fantastically hardly a dot ball during there partnership

Behrendorffs best t20 bowling figure before this game was 3/44....he is currently 3/15 with one over to go

Very tight over from him in his 3rd stump to stump, cramping the batsmen for room, too full on his last one and Silk (currently sitting on his highest score in all his 5 matches...10*) times it well for a cover drive to the fence for 4.....cover drives are so poetic!

BRAD HOGG is now into the attack...5 from his over

Unlucky for Dorrfy,
Steve Smith has a swing and a miss - the ball bounces over middle stump

6 runs from that over....best figures now of 3/21 from his allotted overs....really put the Scorchers in match with that spell.

50/4 off 8 overs.

Steve Smith 15(16)
Jordan Silk 12(14)

Katich keeping with spin, brings Voges in for the 10th over....Kato knows how important it is to break this partnership up. Searching for a wicket.

Smith known for his movement, uses his feet well and gets a four off the drive. Pressure coming off now.

And just as I was about to type that it was a loose over, Voges does his job and strikes! Caught and bowled!

Jordan Silk departs 23(24)

Daniel Smith the wicketkeeper is in the middle now....two smiths

75/5 at the end of the 11th

Oh NO! Steve Smith top edges a pull shot off a short ball from Alfonso Thomas and Yasir Arafat drops it - could that be costly?

82/5 now 48 balls remaining.....Hogg still has two overs to bowl along with Arafat

voges continues the 13th over....6 from it(all singles) tight over.

66 runs required from 42 balls

OOOSH first ball of the 14th. Mitchell Marsh gets a ball to go past D Smith. replays show a second sound there, but no appeal from the scorchers - Daniels face suggests he just got away with one!

Final ball of the Marsh over goes BIG! aimed for middle stump, ended up in the stands. Huge 6 from Steve Smith....expensive over 17 from it

105/5
49 needed from 36

Steve Smith 45(35) - has really started to pick the rr up
D Smith 9(7)
