London 2012 medals unveiled at one-year countdown event:
The Princess Royal has unveiled the London 2012 gold medals as the one-year countdown to the Olympics began.The medals depict the Greek goddess of victory, Nike, stepping out of the depiction of the Parthenon to arrive in the host city.Thousands gathered in Trafalgar Square where David Cameron promised London's would be the "greatest games".Meanwhile, diver Tom Daley performed the first official dive at the Aquatics Centre, the latest venue completed.Synchronised swimmers formed the number one for London 2012 chairman Lord Coe and International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge.Mr Johnson boasted that London is already so ready for the 2012 Games that "we might as well call a snap Olympics tomorrow".

England could face France in 2014 World Cup qualifying:
England could face France in the qualifying stages for the 2014 World Cup after the pots for Saturday's draw in Brazil were revealed.Fabio Capello's side are among the top seeds, placed in pot one, but France are in pot two, along with the likes of Russia and Sweden.Giovanni Trapattoni's Republic of Ireland are in pot three, with Scotland and Northern Ireland in pot four.Meanwhile, Fifa announced that the 2014 World Cup finals will start on 12 June and finish on 13 July.The pot allocations are based on the Fifa world rankings, which were revealed on Wednesday. England dropped to sixth, down two places.

Theo Walcott has left Arsenal's training camp in Germany to undergo a scan on a recurring ankle problem.The England international, 22, sat out training on Monday before the decision was made to send him home.Arsenal hope the problem will be resolved before they start their Premier League campaign against Newcastle on 13 August

England Lead Against India:
In the trail of 67 runs England started Day 3 with 24/1. Peitersen scored 63 and Morgan added 70 but Bell took England on top by his 159. Matt Prior ANd Tim Bresnan later added 102 for seventh wicket and Day three finished with England 441/7, lead by 370 runs. Prior on 64 and Bresnan on 47 will resume Day 4.

England's Ian Bell admits naivety over India run out controversy:
England centurion Ian Bell has admitted to being naive and "a bit stupid" in the incident in which he was run out, and later reinstated, in the second Test against India at Trent Bridge.Bell walked off for tea believing an Eoin Morgan shot from the final ball before the interval had gone for four.However, the ball had actually remained active and, as Bell headed for the pavilion, India removed the bails."I take some of the blame. To walk off was very naive, a bit stupid," he said.
