Darren Clarke kept his nerve to clinch his maiden major title with a three-shot victory in the Open at Royal St George's.The 42-year-old Northern Irishman fired a final-round 70 to finish five under to hold off Americans Phil Mickelson (68) and Dustin Johnson (72).Denmark's Thomas Bjorn ended on one under after a 71 with American trio Rickie Fowler (72), Chad Campbell (69) and Anthony Kim (70) on level par.Clarke, playing in his 20th Open Championship, is the first winner from the UK since Paul Lawrie in 1999 and becomes only the second Northern Irishman to win the Open after Fred Daly in 1947.

Japan 2-2 USA (3-1 pens)Japan beat USA 3-1 on penalties to become the first Asian nation to win the Fifa Women's World Cup.Saki Kumagai scored the winning penalty after Ayumi Kaihori had saved two out of three American three spot-kicks.Alex Morgan had opened the scoring with a low strike before Aya Miyama poked in the equaliser late in normal time.Abby Wambach headed USA ahead in extra-time but Homare Sawa ensured a thrilling finale with a spectacular flicked effort at the near post.The US will be heartbroken and annoyed that they did not manage to secure a record third World Cup having dominated for long periods in the match. But Pia Sundhage's side will rue their profligacy in front of goal, particularly in the first half

Marie Hammarstrom's late strike helped Sweden beat France to third place at the Women's World Cup in Germany.Lotta Schelin gave the Swedes a first-half lead in Sinsheim before Elodie Thomis levelled.Sweden were reduced to 10 on 68 minutes when Josefine Oqvist saw red for violent conduct.But with eight minutes remaining, Hammarstrom fired in a powerful left-foot shot from the edge of the area after France failed to clear a corner.Sweden were beaten Women's World Cup finalists in 2003 and finished third in 1991.

Manchester City agree Carlos Tevez sale to Corinthians:
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has said that an agreement has been reached for the sale of Argentina striker Carlos Tevez to Corinthians.A £39m bid from the Brazilian club was rejected last week, with City believed to be holding out for £50m.Tevez, 27, had said he wanted to leave the Premier League outfit to spend more time with his family in his homeland."We have an agreement with Corinthians but Carlos now is still a City player," Mancini told Sky Sports News.

China beat Northern Ireland in World Cup final:
China have won the World Cup after defeating Northern Ireland 4-2 in Sunday's final in Bangkok.The Chinese pair of Ding Junhui and Liang Wenbo raced into a 3-0 lead before Gerard Greene pulled a frame back with a break of 109.Mark Allen beat Wenbo to make it 3-2 but a break of 89 in the doubles secured victory for China.Northern Ireland defeated Hong Kong 4-1 in the semi-finals earlier on Sunday while China had a 4-1 win over Wales.

Champions Still In Fight To Qualify:
Champions Faced Warriors, The looser was expected to disqualify from CricSim. Warriors batting first saw another Gayle show who scored 42 of 26. Tamim was unable to move on but Sangakara and Yuvraj added 54. Sanga's 44 and Yuvi's 44 helped Warriors reach 158/4.
In reply the Champions lost Gilchrist early when the score was 16. Strauss departed for 39, ANd Taylor added 14. But Kallis fought along with Fardin and Shahriar. Kallis scored 43. It was 143/5 after Kallis departed and Champions required 17 of 19 balls. Shahriar finished in no time to help Champions cruise to a 5 wickets win.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that midfielder Denilson is set to move back to Brazil.The 23-year-old joined the Gunners from Sao Paolo in 2006 but lost his place in the team last season thanks largely to the emergence of Jack Wilshere.He only made 16 Premier League appearances as Wenger's side finished fourth and will now be loaned out to an unnamed club.Wenger said: "Denilson is likely to leave to go to Brazil on loan."
