Thread For Sa vs Sl Series
Discuss here about Sri Lanka's Tour Of South Africa,2011-12(Test & ODI)
Series Preview:
Sri Lankan Seniors players had complained that they don't get enough chance to play outside sub-continent.Well,that is absolutely true.Have a look at this:
This is Sri Lanka's 1st Tour to South Africa for a full fledged series in about 9 years. That is too much gap.Overall Sri Lanka have toured South Africa only thrice before this since their debut in Test Arena.
Sri Lanka had their own problems since the retirement of the "GREAT MURALI".
They haven't won a Test Match since Murali played his last Test match in July 2010, which was against India.Co-incidentally, that was Sri Lanka's last test win.
Since then they drew & Lost home series vs Windies,Australia respectively.
They lost to England in England, lost Pakistan in UAE.Its not only Test Matches, they are lagging in ODI's too.Since a successful world cup campaign where they managed to reach the finals, they lost 3-2 to England in England, lost 3-2 to Australia at Home, lost 4-1 to Pakistan in UAE.Even the New Coach
Geoff Marsh failed to improve their performance by his Coaching Skills
South Africa on the other hand haven't won a Home Test Series since beating Bangladesh in 2008.They introduced new coach in the name of Gary Kirsten & they were so close to beat Australia at home, but somehow failed to give the finishing punch.
There have been early problems for Sri Lanka before the series even began.
There main strike bowlers are injured.
South Africa's Squad looks even more settled with the introduction Philander who had a spectacular debut series vs Australia.
On Paper,South Africa Looks clear Favorites. But you never know Sri Lanka may do something special which only Australia and England managed to do.That is to beat South Africa at home.
Looking For World Domination
VS
Fight to Revive The Past Glory
May Cricket be the Ultimate Winner

1st Test,At SuperSport Park,Centurion,Thu,15th-19th Dec 2011
Few Stats:
1.AB de Villiers became the sixth South African batsman to be dismissed for 99. It is also the 79th instance of a batsman falling for 99 in Tests.
2.It is also the seventh instance of a batsman being dismissed for 99 against Sri Lanka .
3.There have been only two occasions (excluding the match when South Africa and England forfeited their innings) in Centurion when teams have lost despite gaining a lead at the end of the first innings. Sri Lanka lost by six wickets after gaining a 103-run lead in 1998 and New Zealand lost by 128 runs after gaining a 51-run lead in 2006.
4.The only occasion South Africa have lost a Test after gaining a 200-plus run lead was against Australia in Durban in 1950. (matches excluding than the Test in 2000 when South Africa and England forfeited an innings each)

Sri Lanka dropped 3-4 catches.
Couldn't they drop ABD also.
Dilshan should have thought about Warriors
