First topic message reminder :

Discuss here about India's Tour of Australia(Test Series Only)
Test Series Preview:
Well,we waited for this series for long and finally the moment has come before this historic series gets underway at MCG on 26th Dec,2011.
India have never won a series in Australia although their 1st tour down under came way back in 1947-48.While India had their moments to win a series in India especially in 1977-78 series when Kerry Packer's involvement with the game divided the Australian Cricket into pieces. No one can forget Bob Simpson's returning to cricket at the age of 41 after retirement and captaining his side, along with scoring 539 runs in the series because the main Australian Players had joined hands with Kerry Packer and hence they were left out by ACB.But Australia still manged to win the series 3-2.
If 1977-78 was historic,1980-81 series is remembered for Gavaskar's walking off the field along with Chetan Chauhan in protest of Umpire's decision.
1990-91 tour down under saw Sachin Tendulkar making his mark on Kangaroos soil with hundred's at Adelaide and Perth.
In 1999-00 series,Australia demolished the Indians and white washed them by 3-0 in spite of Tendulkar's and VVS Laxman's heroics at MCG and SCG respectively.
In 2003-04 series,Australia had no answer to stop Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman.Dravid piled up 700+ runs, while Laxman was not to behind. It was also remembered for Steve Waugh's historic farewell at SCG when his team mates gave him a grand farewell by lifting him on their shoulders and circling the entire SCG with loud applause from SCG crowd. In spite of Dravid and Laxman's heroics and Ganguly,Tendulkar's hundred's at Gabba and SCG respectively, india still failed to win the series and drew 1-1.
2007-08 series was marred by controversy at SCG test which took an huge impact on the game.At one stage india threatened to boycott the series.
Eventually, through compromises the matter was settled down.India lost 2-1.
Still the official's of that test match believes that Justice was not done.
Now, its 2011.Everything has changed since then.MS Dhoni saw his rise to glory. While Tendulkar,Dravid,Laxman have also saw their fate going up and down.India won the World Cup, 2011.Australia lost a home series for the 1st time in 16 yrs.Australia lost Ashes twice and 1st time at home since 1986-87.Ricky Ponting saw his fall from grace.Michael Clarke became the new captain of Australia.Australia registered their lowest score in more than 100 yrs when they were bowled out for 47.They lost a to kiwis at home for the 1st time since 1985.
India won't forget what happened in England earlier this year when they were white washed 4-0.They have shown significant improvement since then.
On the other hand,Australia hampered by injuries to their strike bowlers, poor form of veteran players, unsettled team and the list goes on..........
In short,This is India's best chance to win a series down under and they are clear favorites. But we know how Australia strike back whenever they are in great adversity. In Nathan Bracken's Words
"When Travesty Prevailed, someone always stood up"

India tour of Australia, Australia vs India
2nd Test, Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney, Tue Jan 03 - Sat Jan 07, 2012

Day 2:
Few Stats:

1.Clarke's unbeaten 251 is the fourth-highest by an Australian captain in Test cricket - only Mark Taylor, Bob Simpson and Don Bradman have scored more. It is the second-highest by a captain against India, next only to Graham Gooch's 333 at Lord's in 1990.

2.Clarke's knock is also the highest Test score by an Australian at the SCG, and the third-highest by any batsman at this ground - only Tip Foster (287) and Brian Lara (277) have scored more.

3.The 288-run partnership between Clarke and Ponting is Australia's fifth-highest for the fourth wicket, and easily their highest for that wicket against India. Their previous best against India had also been achieved by the same pair - 210 in Adelaide in 2008.

4.The 288-run partnership is the second-highest for the fourth wicket by any team when they've been three down for 50 or less. The only higher partnership was achieved in 1934, when Bradman and Bill Ponsford added 388 for the fourth wicket after Australia had been reduced to 39 for 3. This partnership equals the stand between Nasser Hussain and Graham Thorpe against Australia at Edgbaston in 1997, when they added 288 after being 50 for 3.

5.Only 14 times in Test cricket has the fourth-wicket pair added 200-plus runs after being three down for less than 50, and six of those have come against India.

6.Since the beginning of 2011, this is the sixth time that three Indian bowlers have conceded 100 or more runs in an innings.

I had thought so Michael Clarke will declare before he scores 334 because 334 is the highest score by Bradman.

Similar thing was done by Mark Taylor in 1998 vs Pakistan when he
scored 334 not out and declared it then as he had great respect for
Bradman and did not wanted to surpass it

That is one of the reason off course he want to win the match rather making world records.

India tour of Australia, Australia vs India
2nd Test, Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney, Tue Jan 03 - Sat Jan 07, 2012

Day 3:
Few Stats:

1.Michael Clarke's 329 not out is the 25th triple-century in Test history, of which ten have been scored since 2000. It's the seventh by an Australian.
Note: Bradman scored 2 triple hundred's

2.Michael Clarke's triple Ton is the 7th by Test Captain.
The other 6 are Bob Simpson(Aus), Graham Gooch(Eng), Mark Taylor(Aus), Brian Lara(WI), Mahela Jayawardene(SL), Younis Khan(Pak).

3.Clarke's hundred came at No.5, which makes it the second by a batsman not in the top four. The only other such instance was by Don Bradman, who scored 304 at Headingley in 1934 from No.5.
4.India conceded a first-innings lead of 468, which is their fourth-highest in Tests. The highest first inning lead conceded by India is 486 runs vs England at Birmingham,2011.

5.The 334-run stand between Clarke and Michael Hussey is Australia's third-highest for the fifth wicket in Tests, and their highest against India. It's also the highest by any team against India for that wicket, surpassing the 293-run stand between Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Carl Hooper in Georgetown in 2002.

6.SCG became the 19th Test Venue to witness a triple century.
Antigua and Headingley are the only grounds where three triples have been scored.

7.Rahul Dravid has been now bowled 52 times in Tests, just one short of record holder Allan Border who had been bowled 53 times.
Dravid has been bowled 6 times in last Innings.

8.It was the 1st instance in Test Cricket when there was there was two 250+ partnership's in the same innings.
There have been 20 instances of two 200-plus stands, of which Australia have contributed five, but this was the first time they'd managed two consecutive 200-plus partnerships. India have been at the receiving end five times.
