*. Rahul Sharma became the 193 rd player to represent India in ODIs.
*. Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir put on 176 runs for the first wicket – their fifth century opening stand.
*. Sehwag’s 25 fours equalled the existing ODI record for most fours in an innings. SachinTendulkar had also hit 25 fours during his epic 200*.
*. Sehwag scored 142 runs in boundaries only (25 fours and seven sixes). There has been just one better performance in all ODIs on this count; Australia’s Shane Watson scored 150 runs out of his 185*against Bangladesh at Mirpur on April 11, 2011 in boundaries(15 fours and 15 sixes).
*. Sehwag has now scored six ODIhundreds in 75 or fewer balls – the most by any batsman in ODIhistory. He goesahead of Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya who had five such 100s against his name.
*. Out of the 15 ODI hundreds scored by Virender Sehwag, 14 have been in a winning cause. The only hundred in a losing cause was against New Zealandat Napier on December29, 2002.
*. India’s total of 418 for five was their highest ever in ODIs, bettering the 414 for seven they made against Sri Lanka atRajkot on December 15, 2009. India’s previous highest againstWest Indies was 341 for three at Baroda on January 31, 2007.
*. Incidentally, this was the fourth occasion where India posted a total of 400 or more. No other side has scored 400 on more than two occasions.
