*. Jason Mohammed became the 163 rd player to represent West Indies in ODIs.
*. Irfan Pathan was making a comeback to Indian side after agap of 34 months. He had last appeared for India against Sri Lanka at Colombo RPS on February 8, 2009.
*. Manoj Tiwary – playing only his sixth ODI – scored his maiden ODI hundred. He is amongst thequickest to score an ODI hundred for India. Only MS Dhoni scored a maiden hundred after playing fewer matches (five) than Tiwary. Twoothers – Raman Lamba and Gautam Gambhir – also scored their maiden ODI hundreds in their sixth match.
*. Tiwary had to retire hurt soon after reaching the three-figure mark. He is the second Indian, and fifth batsman overall, in ODIs to retire hurt after scoring a hundred. The complete list is: Sachin Tendulkar (163*) v New Zealand at Christchurch on March 08, 2009 ; Salman Butt (129*) v India at Mirpur on June14, 2008 ; Shoaib Malik (125*) vIndia at Karachi on June 26, 2008 ; and Herschelle Gibbs (116*) v India at Colombo RPS on September 25, 2002.
*. Virat Kohli, on 15, surpassed England’s Jonathan Trott’s tally of 1,316 runs to become the leading run-scorer in ODIs this year. Kohli ended the year with 1,381 runs against his name from 34 games (at an average of 47.62) with four hundreds.
*. Irfan Pathan trapped Lendl Simmons lbw off the first ball ofthe West Indies innings. He thusbecame the seventh Indian bowler to take a wicket off the very first ball of the opponent’s innings. Kapil Dev, Venkatesh Prasad, Debasish Mohanty, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agarkar and Praveen Kumar have previously performed this feat for India. Zaheer has done so on four occasions, followed by Mohantyand Prasad (twice each).
*. Kieron Pollard (119) made his maiden ODI hundred in his 51 st match. His previous highest was 94 against Ireland at Mohali on March 11, 2011.
*. Pollard, on 53, completed 1,000 runs in ODIs. He became the 28 th West Indies player to do so.
*. Pollard’s 10 sixes are the maximum hit by any batsman ina match against India. The previous record was of nine sixes jointly held by Pakistan’s Ijaz Ahmed and Shahid Afridi.
*. Pollard has now taken his career tally of sixes to 52 – he isthe 13 th West Indies batsman to hit 50 sixes in an ODI career.
*. India’s 4-1 series win is their biggest ever in a bilateral seriesagainst West Indies. They had also beaten West Indies 4-1 in 1994-95.
