I'm afraid there's a significant possibility that the Champions Trophy will be cancelled altogether after last night's murderous terrorist attack in Manchester, as there's a general election in the UK on June 8th & if there were to be a copycat Jihadist terror attack on any of the venues hosting the Champions Trophy games, the ruling Conservative Party would be blamed by the British public for failing to protect its own citizens, & would probably lose the election as a result.
I *really really really* hope I'm wrong, but given the nature of last night's attack - i.e. a lone suicide bomber targeting thousands of people leaving a crowded stadium - I'd say there's probably *at least* a 50% chance that the Champions Trophy will either be postponed or cancelled altogether, as the Conservative Party won't want to run *any risk at all* of losing the June 8th election.. :-(

After a lot of dilemma over the fact that whether the Indian cricket team will be a part of the ICC Champions Trophy or not, BCCI finally confirmed their participation. With the announcement of the Indian squad that would feature in the 2017 edition of the Champions Trophy, Team India looked all set for the England tour and the challenge ahead.

BCCI and Cricket Australia, the two biggest cricketing bodies in the world after the ICC, the apex body. A lot of Australian players have been a part of the lucrative Indian Premier League for years now, a decade to be precise. Their game may be improving in challenging conditions, but it seems Cricket Australia like always have a problem. They actually want their national players to focus more on playing for the nation and not get greedy.

About David Warner: David Andrew Warner (born 27 October 1986) is an Australian cricketer and the current vice captain of the Australian cricket team. An explosive left-handed opening batsman, Warner is the first Australian cricketer in 132 years to be selected for a national team in any format without experience in first-class cricket.

About Steven Smith: Steven Peter Devereux Smith (born 2 June 1989) is an Australian cricketer who represents Australia, New South Wales Blues, Sydney Sixers and Rising Pune Supergiant.[3]He is currently the captain of the Australia national cricket team across all the three formats.

News which is breaking the internet and shocking cricket fans is - Rohit Sharma has been made the Vice Captain of the Indian Cricket Team. It is a very thoughtful decision by BCCI as they waited to announce the vice-captain of the team until IPL gets over. Surely, selectors would have been impressed by Rohit Sharma's captaincy skills during IPL matches. It is not a shocking decision by BCCI but why Ajinkya Rahane (who was India's earlier vice-captain) has been ignored for the post.

One of many reasons is his poor form throughout the Indian Premier League but it does not justify his captaincy skills. When Rahane was along with Virat Kohli as a vice-captain he did not do anything wrong and he has also been consistent while playing for his country. No particular reasons can be seen in regard to his helping the captain issue. Rahane has been a good and calm vice-captain, always. He also led India during Zimbabwe and won the series.

Rohit Sharma who has just returned from an injury, and who last played an ODI for India last October is made the vice-captain of the team. Rohit Sharma returning from an injury made an applaudable comeback but not enough to become the vice-captain of the Indian Cricket Team. Ajinkya Rahane who did no wrong also deserves another chance to prove himself! This decision by BCCI somewhat clears tension of India's opening pair which is now surely going to be Hitman Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan because a team cannot play without its vice-captain. If India plays an extra bowler considering pitches in England, then Rahane's place in the team can be in danger!

London: India captain Virat Kohli said that BCCI is only following a due process by inviting fresh application for chief coach's post with Anil Kumble's contract expiring at the end of Champions Trophy.
Under Kumble, India have won 12 out of the 17 Test matches last season and the timing of BCCI's move is being perceived by many as a reminder to former India captain that he won't get automatic extension.
"The process has been followed every single time the similar way and for the past so many years is what I know. Even the last time, the post was up for a change, the same procedure was applied. And the term being one year, obviously the procedure is being followed in the same manner," Kohli said when asked about Kumble's contract.
"So I don't see anything very different from what has happened in the past. And that's something that the board has obviously recognized. And they want to follow the same patterns.
"So, yeah, I literally don't have any more information on it because there is a committee that takes those decisions, and they're following the same pattern that's been followed in the past as well," the skipper remained guarded in his response.
However asked specifically about Anil Kumble's contribution, Kohli said that when a team does well, it is due to the equal contribution from all and sundry.
"Obviously, when you have results come your way, the contribution is from every part of the team. It's not from a single source, to say the least. Everyone works hard equally, if not more than the other person," the skipper said.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket Committee has expressed unanimous support for the implementation of a Test cricket competition deeming that context was crucial to the future of international cricket.
The ICC has been mulling the introduction of Test Championship, which could see teams take part in two-tier system.
The recommendation came in the ICC's annual meeting held in London on May 23 and May 24.
The Committee also reiterated its full support for cricket being involved in the Olympic Games.
The Committee, chaired by India coach Anil Kumble, will also recommend to the ICC Chief Executives' Committee that DRS should be able to be used in all T20 International games.
A further recommendation proposes that teams will not lose a review when an LBW review comes back as Umpire's call. However, should that be adopted, the 80 over top-up of reviews in Test cricket would be removed.
The Cricket Committee also considered the new Laws of Cricket (2017 Code) and has recommended the adoption of the majority of the changes to the Laws, most significantly giving umpires the power to send off players from the field in response to the most serious incidents of player misconduct, such as violence on the field. All other offences would continue to be dealt with under the ICC Code of Conduct.
Other major changes to the Laws that will be adopted by the ICC are the restriction on bat dimensions (thickness of edges and depth of bat), and that a batsman will have made his or her ground when a bat bounces after being grounded behind the crease by a running or diving batsman.
If the ICC Chief Executives' Committee approves these recommended changes, the new ICC playing conditions will come into effect from October 1.
A presentation on the findings of the No Ball trial held in England during the ODI series against Pakistan last year was given to the Committee, which recommended that the third umpire should call all No Balls in international matches using instant replays.
The issue of concussion substitutes was revisited by the Committee again and it will recommend to the Chief Executives' Committee that the Classification of Official Cricket be amended to allow Members to run a two year trial into the use of concussion substitutes.
Kumble, Chair of the Cricket Committee said, "We have had a wonderful couple of days discussing cricket issues and there are a number of highlights. The first is around the structure of international cricket and the Committee unanimously recommended that context in the international game is paramount and we welcome the new structure.
"The second is around the new Laws of the game introduced by the MCC and we have adopted the majority of those including the size of bats and this will help the balance between bat and ball. On DRS, MIT have finished their testing of all of the tools available and their recommendations have been adopted as far as calibration is concerned. All in all a very fruitful two days."

Aussie cricket skipper Steve Smith and his Kiwi counterpart Brendon McCullum have kissed and made up after a minor rift caused by critical comments from the New Zealander over Smith's captaincy in England. McCullum, writing in a column in the Daily Mail in September, had said the Australia cricket captain "missed a great opportunity to strike a blow for the spirit of cricket" by not withdrawing an obstructing-the-field appeal against Ben Stokes in a one-day international at Lord's. McCullum said Smith "showed his immaturity" by not withdrawing the appeal for Stokes' dismissal and said "he may live to regret it". On the eve of the three-test series between the trans-Tasman rivals in November, Smith said he "was a little bit disappointed" by McCullum's comments in England, and added: "I didn't really think it was any of his business." But in a column in Australia's Daily Telegraph newspaper Smith has revealed the two had healed their rift. Smith also paid tribute to the leadership of McCullum after the Black Caps skipper recently revealed he would retire from international cricket at the end of the New Zealand summer.
"I actually know Baz quite well — we first played together for NSW in the old Big Bash competition about seven years ago, and we've also crossed paths a fair bit in the Indian Premier League," Smith wrote in the paper. "He's a really good guy, and a magnificent leader who has changed the way the Black Caps go about their cricket. "The Kiwi boys came into our sheds after every game of the recent test series and we got to catch up a fair bit. Baz and I broached the topic of what he said about my captaincy during the one-day series in England, and he was totally up-front about it. "He said that was what he thought at the time, and if anything he was actually trying to help me out. I've got plenty of respect for Baz and wish him the best for the last few months of his international career."
