CW T20 WC | Semi Final 1 : West Indies vs Australia
First topic message reminder :
So we have the tournament progressing onto the next round - The Knockouts where one mistake will take the whole team out of the tournament, where one moment will change fortunes. West Indies face their arch rivals Australia in the first Semi Final Clash at Belfast this 26th July. This match has more than one reason for being the match of the month. Let's go through the teams and their journey so far in this tournament and also check out few interesting facts about this game.
The topper of group A, the boys from the caribbean islands are high on confidence going into the first knock out game. After a nail biting last group match against Bangladesh, they are pumped up and ready for another showdown. There are more than one match winner in this team which has been one of the strongest points for them. They have hardly relied on one single player. Each player has played his role for the side. Young and less experienced players like Ravi Gupta and Sriram have been a real boost for their side. These players have taken everyone by surprise. While Sriram is the leading wicket taker of the tournament, Ravi played two superb innings in the two matches he has played so far. Captaincy has been of top notch quality by Saad Shafi Ahmed. He has used his bowlers really well according to the situation. Their bowling all-rounder, Sourav Chakraborty has also been impressive especially in the last game where he smacked an unbeaten 65 off just 35 balls and then bowled full 4 overs with an economy rate of under 5.
The Aussies on the other hand have struggled a bit to reach the Semi Finals. They ended up being runner up in Group B. Australia has some dangerous batsmen who have exploded every now and then. The most consistent of them being Syed Aqi. He has played two devastating knocks so far in this tournament and will once again be the man to watch out for. We have also seen some key performances from Michael Clarke in a couple of games. One of their trump cards fro this game will be Mitchell Starc who has been quite effective as an all-rounder. Their bowling looks stronger with the likes of Mitchell Johnson, James Pattinson and Ryan Harris. One of the biggest disappointments for them this tournament has been Deep Dey who is yet to play a big innings.
This is one of the biggest rivalry currently in CWSim. While Sourav has produced some match winning performances recently, Deep has continuously been disappointing his fans. His best in this tournament has been just 17 runs. These two have always liked to play against each other just to dominate the other. So it will be very interesting to find out who wins this epic battle. Sourav or Deep.
Another great battle that we will witness is among these two. Saad has produced some smacking innings so far in this tournament. He too the responsibility of leading the side and has done that with perfection so far. On the other hand we have Venky, who has struggled a bit but has definitely added impetus to the decision making for the Aussies. He has been a perfect Vice-captain for them. So it will be fun to see who has the last laugh.

32.6
Peterson to NLTC Perera, SIX, a tremendous over for Sri Lanka ends with a tremendous blow! We won;t be seeing Peterson in the attack while Perera is batting anytime soon! the last hit is the biggest, sailing into the night sky before disappearing into the fans beyond deep square leg. 35 runs off the over, the second costliest in ODIs
32.5
Peterson to NLTC Perera, FOUR, a full and fast ball, Perera gets under it and lofts it over the bowler's head for a four
32.4
Peterson to NLTC Perera, SIX, Perera has exploded on Peterson! He's dragged that from wide outside off stump and sent the fans beyond the midwicket boundary scurrying
32.3
Peterson to NLTC Perera, SIX, boom! Perera sees a shorter ball coming his way and this time he stands his ground and pulls over deep midwicket even though there are two fielders on the boundary
32.2
Peterson to NLTC Perera, SIX, and again, Perera's decided Peterson's got to go. Once again he takes his bottom hand off the bat while mowing and carts the ball over the midwicket boundary
32.2
Peterson to NLTC Perera, 1 wide, that's fired wide outside off stump
32.1
Peterson to NLTC Perera, SIX, Perera's smashed it! Plonked his front foot forward and brought up Sri Lanka's 100 by smashing the ball over the square leg boundary, he even took his bottom hand off the bat during the follow through
