The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has temporarily banned paceman Praveen Kumar for his unruly behaviour on the field during the Corporate Trophy.

Praveen was deemed "mentally unfit" by match referee Dhananjay Singh after the fast bowler abused batsman Ajitesj Argal. He also head-butted the Income Tax player in their game in Raipur. Praveen was playing for ONGC.

"We have issued a showcause notice to Praveen and asked for his reply with regards to his behaviour done during the Corporate Trophy. Until then, he won't take part in competitive matches," a BCCI official told "The Indian Express" newspaper.

Praveen pleaded guilty and was fined 100% of his match fee. The right-hander has now been omitted from Uttar Pradesh's One Day squad for Vijay Hazare Trophy.
