CWC June 2012 | Shadows vs Dynamos | Group B Match 7 | 16th June 2012
First topic message reminder :
Undoubtedly the best batting side of the tournament. In the last game, Shadows' batsmen slaughtered the Hurricanes bowling attack which was known for restricting sides to low totals. The openers provided another 100+ opening partnership which was the third consecutive hundred run opening-stand in this CWC. Raminder's 100 really lifted up the spirits of the other Shadows' batsmen. The middle order, however, was disappointing with only Johny being impressive. Shadows would have to work on their middle order a lot. If the whole batting lineup chips in and contributes a good amount of runs, then Shadows can even reach 300+ scores in the future.
The new Mr. Dependent- Raminder will have to continue his smashing form and provide another solid start to the Shadows. Previous match: 105 (124)
On the other hand, the Shadows bowlers themselves were butchered by the Hurricanes' middle order. Anurag was impressive up-front and dismisses the openers cheaply. The spinners did a decent job although Mendis was a bit expensive. Now, talking about the two culprits from the last game- Hassan and Amir. From a position where Shadows were winning comfortably, these two bowled terribly in the middle and death overs. Both were very expensive and failed to take any wickets. Both of them would probably be dropped for the next match. Ryan Harris, who was rested for the last match, will have to step in and deliver big time.
The captain Anurag will have to continue his impressive strike bowling up-front by dismissing the opening batsmen. Previous Match: 2/35
Shadows need to regroup and work on their weaknesses before this huge clash with the Dynamos which is almost a Do-or-Die situation for them.
An impressive batting performance against the Cosmos, where they once again chased the total within 40 overs. Amla and Trott were the stars in the last game with both of them getting 80+. However, the F-Players failed miserably. If they would have contributed, then they would have chased the score more easily. Leaving it all on the International Players would put too much pressure on them. So the F-Players need to work hard on their batting. As the Shadows are capable of both making big scores and chasing them, Dynamos will need to put a good batting performance.
Trott will have to continue his consistent middle-order batting and take advantage of the vulnerable middle-over bowling of the Shadows. Previous Match: 84* (89)
A quite decent bowling performance by them as the opening bowlers took quick wickets. Akram was brilliant with the ball up-front. Although Swann failed to pick up wickets, he was very economical. Johnson was also among wickets. The only concern is that the pacers are leaking plenty of runs. Pai and Johnson were quite expensive in the last game. So they would need to work on that as they don't want to leak runs against a batting side like Shadows which can score a huge amount of runs. They would want to repeat the bowling performance from the earlier CWC encounter with the Shadows.
Akram will have to bring his experience into play to confront the impressive batting lineup of the Shadows and continue taking wickets. Previous Match: 3/45
Dynamos will have huge momentum heading into this clash having already defeated Shadows in their previous CWC encounter. But that doesn't mean they can take the Shadows lightly.
