Hurricanes vs Cosmos
18th June 2012
8 PM IST
The last time they met in CWC, it was the start of the first leg and both teams were on the opposite position as they are now. Cosmos were conficent, thir players were on form and on the other hand Hurricanes were in pathetic form being white-washed by The Cosmos in their own home and then a bad campaign in The Enforcers Cup.
Things changed drastically in the CWC. The invincible Cosmos have shown some weaknesses and all other teams have attacked them and the outcome being 3 defeats in 3 games they have played. On the contrary, The Hurricanes have looked focused and stronger than before. They have gone onto win 3 games from 3 and are sitting quite relaxed at the top of the Group - B table.
The inclusion of Lee and F players like Fahad, Parth and Haseeh doing exceptionally well has aided their journey so far. These two teams meet once again at The Oval where The Cosmos have a must-win scenario and The Hurricanes will look to grow on their morale and their hold on Group - B.
Clashes to Watch out for :
Coming onto the CWC, both were in great form. Strauss was averaging almost 40 while Dale Steyn was devastating with the new ball. But CWC has changed their fate. Strauss has found it hard to middle the ball. He is lacking timing and placement. he has got small starts but not been able to get big scores. Dale Steyn has not at all been what he used to be. He is leaking runs at the start and also at the end. Hardly picked any wicket so far. Dale Steyn bowling to Andrew Strauss will be a short little spell where both will try to revive some form.
Shaun Pollock has been the best bowler for Cosmos and RTD has been the best batsman for The Hurricanes. Pollock picked a hat-trick against the Hurricanes in the last game and Teno was the only batsman who batted well and got the vital runs. Pollock has also contributed a bit with the bat and same applies for RTD who has won a game with his bowling vs The Dynamos. So we can see Pollock vs RTD both with the bat and with the ball.
Fight of the Srilankans. Thilan Samaraweera facing Lasith Malinga - Sri Lankan classic. Samaraweera batted with gutso against the Shadows in the death overs and knocked them out of the game. Now he will be up against Lasith Malinga who is a go to death bowler for The Cosmos. Can Samaraweera continue with his form or will Malinga knock the stumps over when these two clash.
Seeing the last game, it is highly doubtful that Sourav Ganguly will play this game but if he does and opens for The Cosmos, we will once again see Ganguly playing a genuine quickie in the opening overs of the game. Now in his day, he used to crank the bowlers through the offside with utter ease. But now age is on the wrong side for him and he is struggling a lot to even stay out in the middle for long. Morne Morkel has been the pick of pacers for Hurricanes and on any given day vs DADA, he will try try to knock his head off with his deadly bouncers and deadly yorkers.
Brett Lee the new entrant of the Hurricanes has been impressive till now. He has been among wickets in the game where other bowlers have failed to. He will be the man to watch out vs Hussey who loves to get the ball coming onto bat. Hussey has got some big runs in this CWC for the team and helped them to get runs on the board in a time where all other batsmen have failed in the line-up. Brett Lee vs Michael Hussey - time for some Aussie battle this summer on CWC.
Teams Playing for :
The
Hurricanes
have now 3 out of 3 wins and thats a big point for them
coming into this game. They will try to win this one and make sure they
end as no.1 team in Group - B. Ending as No.1 will mean that they play
their semi-final match at their home and that will be a big boost for
them.
The
Cosmos
will play this match and try to win it for keeping their hopes
alive. If they loose this one too, that will be their end in CWC June
2012 for sure. They need to win the game and make sure they win by a big
margin too.
