Re: HISTORIC MOMENT OF ASHES
Allan Border (Australia, 1985-1993)
Much as 'The Don' had done seven decades earlier, 'AB', as he was affectionately known, personified Australian cricket
during most of his career. His astonishing 3,548 runs against England came at 56.3, and he was the first Australian
since 1940s hero Joe Darling to lead Australia in England on three Ashes tours. In leading Australia to victory in the 1989
series in England, Border made a point of responding to criticism that he was too ruthless by becoming even more so.

Most wickets in the Ashes, Shane Warne 195.
Warne took five wickets in an innings 11 times, and averaged 23.25 over his Ashes career.
The next two best wicket counts belong to Australians too, with Lillee on 167 and McGrath on 157.
Ian Botham leads the list for England with 148.
Pictured in the famous 'ball of the century', Warne's first Ashes delivery in 1993 which dismissed Mike Gatting

An Ashes superstar and much more.
Steve Waugh was outstanding against England, and his batting stats in his last 11 years were among the best in the world

Ashes 2005 high drama
Michael Kasprowicz is given out, caught by England keeper Geraint Jones - as England celebrate their two-run win
at Edgbaston in the 2nd test in the closely contested 2005 Ashes series. It was England's narrowest ever Test victory.

Re: HISTORIC MOMENT OF ASHES
The Australian's held the treasured urn from 1934 until 1953. 19 years is the longest spell one side has reatained the Ashes.
Until Michael Vaughan's side triumphed 2-1 n English soil, labled a modern day epic Ashes series, in 2005 (pictured),
the Australians had held the Ashes for the next longest period, 16 years since 1989.

Revenge with a Whitewash!
Australia won the 2006=07 Ashes series and regained the Ashes that had been lost to England in 2005. In winning,
Australia completed a 5–0 "whitewash", the first time this had happened in an Ashes series since 1920–21. The series
was also notable for the retirement of several significant Australian players, namely Justin Langer, Damien Martyn,
Glenn McGrath, and Shane Warne.
