Who should win ?
CWsim OD Championship | Group A | Shadows v Hawks | 20th July
It's the clash of the bottom two teams in Group A. While the Hawks have lost the only game they have played so far, The Shadows have been defeated on both occasions. The Shadows are currently the team at the bottom of the table with a Net Run Rate of -1.178 while the Hawks are just above them tied on 0 points but having a better Net Run Rate of -0.080. One of these two teams will be getting the much anticipated victory this Sunday while the other will get into further trouble.
Let's have a look at their mistakes and errors in their previous matches and also at their chances in this one.
The Shadows lost their first game of the season against the Dominators who made a mockery of them. by chasing down 278 runs in 37.3 overs. Their bowling was nowhere near the standards required in CWsim. Samuel Badree went on to make a statement by conceding 100 runs of his allocated 10 overs. | Their batting grew stronger in the next game while bowling went worse. This time they let their opponents, Thunder Bolts to chase down 338 runs in 47 overs. Bowlers got smashed to all parts of the ground but luckily none of them was in mood of conceding another century. Well, Badree was dropped anyways. |
The Shadows must be itching to get a win this Sunday and they need to make sure that they bowl better this time or maybe shuffle the bowlers a bit. It won't be a bad play to show a bit more faith on Nathan Mccullum. In the first game, he was impressive as he picked up 2 wickets in his 5 overs conceding 24 runs at a RR of 4.8 per over while the majority of the rest were going at over 10 an over. Given the fact, he can hit a few mighty ones too, he is the MAN to WATCH out for. What makes things even better for him is the fact that we have a wet pitch on offer this Sunday. That's surely not gonna dampen his hopes.
What a game it was. The first game of the season for the Hawks and they produced a humdinger. But the result was definitely what they were looking for. Jayawardene making 80* of 112 balls and then the team losing by 4 runs forces me not to write more on the reason behind their loss. |
Alex Hales was in sublime touch as he amassed 138 off 133 balls and one should definitely be prepared for more such knocks from him this season. He will once again be a big threat for his oppositions, The Shadows this week. Talking about their bowling, they were pretty disciplined and did more than well in restricting their opponents under the 300 mark. The only thing that lacked was a sense of urgency in the batting. Jayawardene was looking rusty and he might be dropped from this game despite his slow 80*. They have got a lot of spinning options and hence they hold the edge over the Shadows on this wet surface.
