Npower Series | 1st OD | Blue Knight Hawks vs Shadows | 2nd March |Adelaide|8 PM IST

Shadows are one of the best teams in OD Cricket. Shadows have recently completed a OD Series vs Hurricanes where they lost the momentum after leading 2-1 going on to lose the series 3-2 convincingly. That shouldn't really harm their potential and confidence after a great CWC January 2013. Two of their really great performers in the current series' were David Warner and Ian Bell. This opening duo has changed mammoth 300+ total without any wickets falling down. However, their main problem is their middle order. It seems to collapse at time but the late fireworks from Jacques Rudolph and Younis Khan has really kept them as a superpower generation. A 280+ score at this pith if all batsmen chips in would be something for the Shadows to defend if opted to bat first. New sensation Abdul Razzaq would be something to catch an eye flash about.
Mr. Dependent of Shadows : Michael Clarke has to continue his hot run and provide another great start for Shadows. His previous series score shouldn't ruin his game although Hawks would be happy for it to happen.
On the other hand, Shadows bowling is mediocre. Their bowlers have leaked runs at crucial stages of the game which put them in the loosing side of the recently concluded series against Hurricanes. Undoubtedly, the best bowler in the team is Anurag Choudhary. He has leaked runs and picked up wickets for the team. Team Management has announced that Anurag is back as captain. This would truly put the double amount of pressure on him. Senior bowler Ajantha Mendis has to step-up to the plate now as this is a totally different ball game. Rest assured, Shadows bowlers need to be economical and rhythmic inorder to overcome the experienced batting side of Hawks.
The captains knock has to be delivered by Anurag, not with the bat but with ball and knock over the opening batsmen of Hawks.
Hawks are totally the opposite of Shadows and this is what makes this series interesting and something to look forward to. The Hawks on their last OD Assignment known as CWC January 2013 weren't at all one of the top performing team. They had won only 1 game in that tournament. Plus point is, Hawks are coming away from a great T20 LOC where they were the Runner's Up. Hawks batting order is well experienced but not well played with. The lineup is filled with the likes of Alastair Cook, Jacques Kallis, Mahela Jayawardene and importantly their performing F Player Fardin Kibria. Sad part is, Azhar Ali has been newly recruited along with countrymen Asad Shafiq. Azhar might find himself a part of the team but question is, will Asad? Nasir Hossain is coming off a great T20 LOC and CWC 2013, with the opportunity up for grabs will he contribute with open hands again? Hawks will be hoping so. Many have suggested the promotion of Mathews but Hawks management have ruled out any confusions and said he is fixed for the No.7 spot. A good contribution from all would help Hawks chase anything and put on anything on the board to put out a great challenge for Shadows to defend.
Virender Sehwag will get a chance to continue his hot streak from T20's to the OD format and provide great starts for Hawks.
The bowling department of Knight Hawks are in excellent touch. Their pacemen Yasin, Gul and Kallis have been picking wickets on regular intervals. Yasin might go a bit expensive but has proved effective when brought in to the team fray. Mudassar Bukhari who was one of their really good bowlers has left the team to join Thunder Strikers. He was one of the quick wicket takers of the team and with him leaving, Hawks might be in a bit of trouble early on. It is expected that the bowling of Gul and Yasin should cover it and if not, three spinners and the pace attack of Gul and Kallis is the next likely option. Razzak has been in a sublime form along with Imran Tahir who has performed convincingly well for the Thunderbolts in recently concluded CWC 2013. If all goes fine, Hawks are known to knock down great teams with their great bowling.
Abdur Razzak needs to perform the role of a senior man that he has been doing for the past few months for Hawks and pick up wickets consistently.
MAY THE BETTER TEAM WIN!
