Just as recently concluded West Indies vs Australia series, if England vs West Indies series had been played in the 80's or 90's era, this would have mouth watering contest to watch. Sadly the demise of West Indies in last 13-14 yrs have made this just an another ordinary series.

England will be playing their 1st test as a official No.1 Test team at home after demolishing India 4-0 last English Summer. They will try to forget the humiliation, they suffered in UAE at the hands of Pakistan after they failed to play top quality spin from Abdul Rehman and Saeed Ajmal. They almost suffered another horror show in Sri Lanka, but Kevin Pietersen's beligerence saved them from another clean sweep.
In ODI's too, they were humiliated in India by 5-0 before having a consolation ODI series win over Pakistan(4-0).

West Indies have shown remarkable improvement in their fighting after the World Cup 2011 under the captaincy of Darren Sammy. They came close to upsetting India and Australia in Test and ODI's, but they failed to deliver the final punch to seal the victories & hence managed to loose the series.
The long dispute between Gayle & WICB has also ended with Gayle confirming his return to national duty for the ODI's in England.

West Indies last won a Test Series in England was way back in 1988 when they overwhelmed the English side by 4-0 in a 5 match series.
West Indies last won a Test Series vs England was in 2009 in West Indies, when one fierce spell of Jerome Taylor costed England the Series.

Similarly, West indies ODI series win vs England came in 2007, when they humbled the English side by 2-1 in England.

The Test Series between these two nations is called as WISDEN TROPHY named JOHN WISDEN
