Most Runs Off A Ball
First topic message reminder :
The most runs off one ball, in the days before limits were placed, also happened in Australia. Victoria, playing againstWestern Australia, scored 286 runs off one hit, the first delivery in the match. The ball was hit intothe a branch of a very tall tree. The umpire disallowed the claim for "lost ball" because the ball was visible. While the batsmen were running, the players sent for an axe to cut down the tree but none was found. The ball was eventually shot down by oneof the players using a rifle, but in the excitement nobody thought of catching the ball." Alas, no such match exists in our first-class records, so its veracity is very doubtful.
